Representatives from the Association of People with Down Syndrome gave President Guðni Th. Jóhannesson a pair of unmatched socks as a gift at Bessastaðir honoring World Down Syndrome Day.
The socks are an Icelandic design from the factory of Guðjón Tryggvason, a designer of clothes, and Guðjón Gísli Kristinsson, an artist, born with Down’s syndrome, and are a symbol of increased diversity in society.
Members of the Association went from the Presidential residence at Bessastaðir to the Sportshall of Þróttur sport’s association to celebrate. The President was there and the rapper, Mr. Hnetusmjör, who kick-started the festivities.
