Doctors in Iceland on strike

Doctors in Iceland have started a two-day strike to demand higher pay. This is the first time doctors have opted for going on strike, and are apparently not happy about it.

In an ad published in Morgunblaðið, the Icelandi Medical Association expressed their concern and regret over having to adopt these measures, but say this is the only way for doctors to press for fair pay.

Iceland has in the post 2008 crisis years seen what can almost be described as an exodus of doctors from Iceland, mostly to Scandinavia. Many Icelandic doctors were educated in Scandinavia, and can expect to be paid quite a bit more and have better hours there than in Iceland.
