A doctors' strike may mean that around 800 surgical procedures will be cancelled at the National University Hospital. No progress has yet been made in discussions between the Icelandic Medical Association (LÍ) negotiation committee and the State Negotiator. Their next meeting is on Monday afternoon.

In addition, several other medical procedures including cardiac catherizations and endescopies have been cancelled today and yesterday.

Doctors in Iceland are on strike until December 11th.   Queues formed at the beginning of this week at the emergency ward and at the Læknavaktin medical centre in Kópavogur where people in the capital area can receive care after regular doctors' hours and on weekends.
