36.4% support for the government

The approval rating for the current Icelandic government is 36.4%, according to a survey carried out by MMR. This is up from 34.1% for the period up to 29 January. Support for the Independence Party (‘Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn’, one of the two parties in the governing coalition) now stands at 25.5%, followed by Bright Future (‘Björt Framtíð’) with 15%.

MMR surveyed support for the various political parties in Iceland and approval of the current government (a coalition of the Progressive Party (‘Framsóknarflokkurinn’) and the Independence Party) from 13 to 19 February 2015.

Support for the government is now 36.4%, as compared to 34.1% at the end of January and 34.8% in mid-January.

Since the previous survey, support has increased for the Independence Party, the Progressive Party and the Left-Green Movement (‘Vinstrihreyfingin - grænt framboð’). Support has fallen for Bright Future, the Social Democratic Alliance (‘Samflykingin’) and the Pirate Party (‘Píratar’). Other parties have less than 2% support.

The survey was carried out from 13 to 19 February 2015 and the total number of respondents was 975, all 18 years and older.
