Kristjánsdóttir to return?

Bjarni Benediktsson, Icelandic Finance Minister and leader of the centre-right Independence Party (‘Sjálfstæðisflokkurinn’) is confident that Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir will return to parliamentary politics and will be given the opportunity to reassume her former position as deputy leader of the Independence Party.

Kristjánsdóttir resigned as Home Affairs Minister in November 2014 following a scandal involving her political assistant and leaked confidential information relating to an asylum seeker. “She intends to return, as far as I am aware,” states Benediktsson, in an interview with Frjáls Verslun magazine.
Benediktsson does however concede that trust is everything in politics and that this incident will not have done Kristjánsdóttir’s image any good.
