Iceland-EU Russia embargo talks set

Talks between Iceland and the European Union (EU) on the ongoing Russian embargo of Icelandic fish are scheduled to begin on 8 September.

Iceland has asked the EU to reduce its customs duties on imports from Iceland in order to soften the impact of the embargo, Russia’s response to Iceland’s support for EU sanctions against Russia.

According Icelandic Foreign Minister, Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson, Iceland is working on the issue from all angles, including talks with the Russia government and looking for new markets for the fish Iceland is no longer able to sell to Russia.
