Iceland has come top of the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap ranking for the seventh year in a row.

In fact, Nordic countries make almost a clean-sweep at the top of the table, with Iceland in first place, Norway in second, Finland in third and Sweden in fourth. Denmark places 14th on the 145-country ranking for 2015.

The report – called Global Gender Gap Index 2015 – “ranks 145 economies according to how well they are leveraging their female talent pool, based on economic, educational, health-based and political indicators”.

Iceland scores 0.881 on a scale of 0 (inequality) to 1 (equality), taking top position. Last-placed country Yemen has a score of just 0.484.

As can be seen from the report’s specific Iceland profile, the country scores nears perfect scores in the categories of ‘Educational Attainment’ and ‘Health and Survival’, with its lowest scores coming in the category of ‘Political Empowerment’.
