Flooded engines as cars disregard closure signs

The storm this morning caused an enormous amount of water from snowmelt on the streets of Reykjavik. The road under the bridge at Smáralind shopping mall was completely flooded. 

City authorities closed off the road but as you can see in the accompanying video a couple of cars decided to disregard the warnings. Unfortunately, once in the deep water their engines became flooded and they were stuck. 

Mbl.is captured these images of the cars disregarding the signs and getting stuck in water. 

A flooded engine is very damaging for a car and is an expensive business.
