Earthquake of 3.7 in Öxarfjörður

An earthquake of the magnitude of 3.7 occurred in Öxarfjörður at around 7.30 this morning some 15 km West - Southwest of Kópasker in North Iceland. 

The earthquake was felt in Skíðadalur, near the town of Dalvík.  An expert at the Iceland Met Office says it's possibly connected to the earthquake swarm off Grímsey island which is now receding. 

An earthquake of a magnitude of 6 occurred in Kópasker in 1976.
