Car overturns in Öxladalsheiði in icy road conditions

A car overturned in Öxladalsheiði, North Iceland just after noon today. Road conditions are bad on the heath due to sludge and ice. 

Fortunately the car landed back on its wheels after overturning but the driver lost control of the vehicle. Two people were in the car and received minor injuries and were taken to a doctor in Akureyri. 

Weather conditions have been bad in North and North East Iceland today and roads should only be attempted by vehicles equipped for winter driving. Numerous tourists have run into trouble today and gotten their cars stuck on mountain roads in North East Iceland.
