Iceland have lost to Belarus in their qualifying Euro 2016 Men’s Handball Championship game this afternoon 39-38.

In a very close and hard-fought match, the two teams kept each other in check, overtaking each other in the scoring throughout, but by the final whistle it was Belarus who had the upper hand.

Iceland is participating in Qualifying Group B, together with Belarus, Croatia and Norway. The bottom team in the group after three matches is eliminated on the way to the main round, and today’s loss means that Iceland are not yet sure of qualification.

Iceland’s final Group B match is against Croatia and takes place on Tuesday at 8:30 pm, Polish time.
