Tourist falls into Svínafell lagoon

Rescue teams and a National Coastguard helicopter were called out to Öræfi in South East Iceland yesterday to rescue a tourist who fell into Svínafellslón lagoon.

According to South Iceland police the man managed to get out of the lagoon by himself. He was cold and tired from the ordeal but otherwise unharmed. The helicopter was therefore deturned and the man was transported to a health care centre in  Kirkjubæjarklaustur.
