Icelandair- Wow merger could open up new market areas

 Icelandair's acquisition of WOW air could create opportunities for the Icelandic tourist industry. 

According to specialist Elvar Ingi Möller at Arion bank changes to flight frequency to shared destinations could create opportunities to fly to different ones. This could bring a new group of passengers to Iceland. 

He adds that this will happen over the course of some time, but the short term influence of the merger between the two airlines, who will however be keeping the two different names, will cause growth of the Icelandic tourism industry over the next months. If this happens, there would be a positive effect on the Icelandic economy.
