Fatal Accident in Snæfellsnes

One person has died of injuries sustained in a rollover on the south side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the farm Gröf, Saturday, mbl.is reports. The accident took place around 1 pm, as the driver lost control of the vehicle, which landed off the road and rolled over a few times, before landing on its side.
There were five people in the vehicle – all of them foreign tourists. All five were injured, two of them seriously. The deceased was a passenger in the car.
Two helicopters from the Icelandic Coast Guard were sent to the scene. They transported four of the people to Landspítali National University Hospital. One person was transported by ambulance.
Representatives from the Automibile Accident Investigation Board and from the forensic division of the Capital Police Department came to the site of the accident.
The West Iceland Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.
