There are seven Icelanders among the 1,000 guests of the hotel H10 Costa Adeje Palace on the island of Tenerife, who have been quarantined, mbl.is reports.

One of the hotel guests, an Italian doctor, was diagnosed yesterday with COVID-19, the novel coronavirus, which originates in China.

The hotel is very popular among British tourists, and Icelandic travel agencies are among its customers.

Þráinn Vigfússon, general manager of Vitaferðir travel agency, states that the seven Icelanders purchased their trip from Vitaferðir. He does not know whether other Icelanders are guests at the hotel.

Police stand guard by the hotel to ensure no one enters or exits the building. The Italian doctor has been hospitalized and placed in isolation.
