Face Masks Required on Buses

Face masks must now be worn by all passengers and bus drivers of Strætó bus company in the capital area, mbl.is reports. In rural areas, such a rule has been in effect for quite some time and continues to apply. Buses are exempt from the 20 people maximum social distancing rule that took effect today.

Childen born in 2005 and later do not need to wear a mask.

A statement posted by Strætó stresses that passengers who do not wear a mask will not be allowed to board buses. Passengers are responsible for bringing their own face masks.

According to the new regulation regarding disease prevention, any operation requiring more proximity than one meter, such as health care service, hair salons, barber shops, massage parlors, domestic flights and ferries, taxis, buses, and public transportation, face masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn.
