The Icelandic government just announced stricter disease prevention measures. They take effect at midnight and apply all over Iceland.

The main changes include the following:

The maximum number of people allowed to gather will be ten.

The 2-meter social distancing rule remains in effect.

There will be more emphasis on the use of face masks.

Children born in 2015 and later are exempt from the 2-meter rule, the face mask rule, and the rule that limits the number of people allowed to gather.

All athletic activities will be prohibited and swimming pools will be closed all over the country.

Pubs will remain closed.

Restaurants must close by 9 pm.
