Swimming pools will be closed tomorrow

Tomorrow Veitur Utilities will cut the contribution of hot water to large consumers, including swimming pools in the capital area, due to excessive demand on heating systems during the cold season.

The City of Reykjavík has therefore made a decision to close the swimming pools in Reykjavík and the bathing facility at the Ylströndin in Nauthólsvík tomorrow, Thursday. Opening times will remain unchanged today, however.

"The situation will be re-evaluated in the morning and a decision will be made on next steps. The freezing temperatures and thus the strain on the heating system are expected to decrease on Friday," says in an announcement from the city.
