The geomagnetic storm is impacting measurement accuracy

Inflation is still increasing in Svartsengi, but due to the ongoing geomagnetic storm, GPS measurements are less accurate than usual.
"GPS tracking in the area has become a little unreliable right now. Because there is so much disruption from the space weather that has been going on," says Einar Hjörleifsson, natural disaster expert at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, in an interview with mbl.is.
The disruption is still not serious, he says.
Astronomer Sævar Helgi Bragason, who likes to be identified with his subject, talked about geomagnetic storms in an interview with mbl.is on Saturday.
About 40 quakes
Seismic activity increased around the same time as the eruption ended, but the Meteorological Office declared the end of the eruption on Thursday, ascension day.
The night, on the other hand, was quiet on the Reykjaness Peninsula in terms of seismic activity. Around 40 earthquakes have been recorded at the magma tunnel near Grindavík since midnight.
There has also been some seismic activity under Kleifarvatn in the last few days, but there were only about ten earthquakes yesterday.
