The investigation into the death of a man in Ólafsfjörður last Monday is going well according to an announcement from the Police North East. The investigation at the scene is finished and now the data is being analyzed. Furthermore, both suspects and a few witnesses have been interviewed.

"The picture is getting clearer, step by step, and we think we have a pretty good idea of what happened that led to the man's death. We decided to release on person from custody, because we don't think that it would impact our investigation that he would go free. Still, there is one person still in custody because of the case and will be until next Monday."

Weeks or months

The decision whether the custody will be extended will be decided on this weekend. "An investigation of this kind is quite intensive, complicated and it takes time. We are still analysing the data and will continue interviewing parties of interest. We still don't have all the forensic data from some of our research. It could be weeks or months until everything is known and there is not a lot of things we can divulge more than we already have while the investigation is ongoing."
