Í nýrri skýrslu frá STAT, fjölmiðli sem fjallar meðal annars um lyfjafyrirtæki, kemur fram að Kim Kardashian West hafi fengið hálfa milljón bandaríkjadala, eða rúmlega 53 milljónir íslenskra króna greitt fyrir að birta mynd á Instagram. Athygli vekur að greiðslan er hærri en árslaun forseta Bandaríkjanna sem fær 400 milljónir Bandaríkjadala á ári.

Kim fékk greitt frá lyfjafyrirtækinu Duchesnays USA fyrir að auglýsa lyf við morgunógleði árið 2015. Auglýsingin hafði tilætluð áhrif og jókst sala á lyfinu um 21 prósent haustið 2015. 

Kim hefur verið gagnrýnd fyrir framsetningu sína á morgunógleðilyfinu en lyfið, undir öðru nafni, var tekið af markaði árið 1983. Þá voru uppi ásakanir um að inntaka lyfsins á meðgöngu hefðu slæm áhrif á fóstrið. Þá birti Kim ekki upplýsingar um aukaverkanir og viðvaranir í færslu sinni, sem hún síðar þurfti að eyða.
