Hin bandaríska Jess Dukes er dugleg að deila sögu sinni á Instagram og myndum sem sýna árangur hennar. Dukes breytti um lífstíl eftir að hafa þyngst um 34 kíló á innan við tveimur árum, var hún orðin rúm 97 kíló þegar hún breytti til.

Dukes segist hafa þyngst þar sem hún fór mikið út að borða, fékk sér áfengi auk þess sem hún vann við skrifborð og hreyfði sig lítið. Í stað þess að horfast í augu við vandamálið reyndi hún lengi að sannfæra sjálfa sig um að fötin væru að skreppa saman í þurkaranum. Nú nokkrum árum og tveimur börnum seinna er hún komin niður í 63 kíló. 

Mataræðið skiptir miklu máli en Dukes segist reyna að borða hreina fæðu. Segist hún ekki telja kaloríur en í morgunmat borðar hún meðal annars kjúklingapylsu og sætar kartöflu. Í hádeginu mikið salat með kjúklingi, ýmiss konar grænmeti, lárperu, hollri salatdressingu og kannski heimatilbúnum sætum frönskum. Í kaffinu fær hún sér þeyting og í kvöldmat er það prótín og mikið grænmeti. 

Til að byrja með fór hún í ræktina en seinna meir byrjaði hún að æfa heima hjá sér. Finnst henni gott að þurfa ekki að fara út úr húsi. Hún æfir vanalega sex sinnum í viku en hver æfing tekur ekki nema hálftíma.

I haven’t seen this picture on the left in a while and when I saw it today, I had to do a comparison. I don’t have a lot of before pictures because I remember being horrified by what I saw. And I know some people will probably give me grief for saying that, but I didn’t feel good about being 215 pounds and abusing myself with food. . There is finally a day and 2012 where I hit my breaking point and realize that I was done. I keep making excuses and continue down the path I was on or I could suck it up and put in the work. I chose to work 👊🏼 . 30 minutes of exercise a day is so much easier than a lifetime of being uncomfortable in my own skin. . I know it can be hard to find the time to work out every day, to eat healthy when you have cravings...but I promise, ITS WORTH IT. . The struggle doesn’t have to be real. You can choose to get up and fight for yourself, to quit listening to your own excuses and get out of your own way. At the end of the day, nothing is stopping you except yourself. . I’ve been there too, but I’m here to tell you that it is so worth it it is the best decision you’ll ever make! When I feel cranky, my first instinct is FOOD. Food has always been a comfort to me, which led to lots of weight gain and unhealthy habits. . As I lose weight and change my habits, those instincts are always there. . I’d love to kick my feet up, watch a movie and comfort myself with food right now 🍕🍫🍷...I debated it for about an hour, tried to justify it...then snapped myself out of it. . I want results right now and the only reason I’ve been getting results lately is because I’m staying on track and not allowing excuses to creep in. Takes so much effort to lose weight, yet so little effort to gain it all back. . So, i am reminding myself of my goals and staying on track. This cranky mood will pass and I will be so thankful I didn’t allow it to ruin my progress! I deserve better. . We control so little in life, but our nutrition is ALWAYS in our control 💪🏻 .
